Events:

On 12/3/04, at about 2pm, I went to the Rolling Meadows Court, IL in order to see free legal advice. I was told that on Friday afternoons there is a lawyer who sits on the second floor near the last Court Room. After I walked from the escalator, I was drinking Snapple Drink and walking toward the last courtroom, when I was approached by the man with the white shirt.
He: “No food and drink are allowed in this building.”
I: “I did not know that. Snapple is good drink.”
He: “Yes.”
I: “Is there a sign about it?”
He: “There is a big sign on the first floor when you came.“
I: “I did not see the sign.”
A woman came by drinking water.
I: “I see a woman drinking.”
He: “She is a state attorney and she drinks from plastics. You should put your drink in the garbage can. Are you playing games with me?”
I: “No.”
I put a bottle down to the garbage can. Look for the attorney at the end of the hallway. I could not see anybody sitting there. I decided to go downstairs and ask about attorney and new sign. He and me went downstairs.
He: “You go downstairs because you have no business in here.”
I: “What is your name?”
We went toward the exit where an officer sits.
He: “Officer B*******.”
I start to write his name, when the sitting officer stood up and said: “You need to know my name also.”
I “What is your name?
He: “S****”
I start writing his name, but suddenly he and few other policeman came to me, kick me.
I: “Let me out”
He: “You go to jail”
They put me in the handcuffs, walked me toward a chair where I sat for about 15-30 minutes.
I saw my pen lying on the floor, but they did not give me it back.
S***: “What is your name?”
I: “M******* N******* and I want to talk with my lawyer.”
S***: “N**** starts the a K?”
I: “N********.”
After, we went downstairs, in handcuffs.
There were about five different police officers where they asked me questions, took my picture and fingertips.
Every other word from police was “s**t” and “f**k“. For about 15-30 minutes they took my fingerprints. Before and after fingertips, they asked questions. Are you Polish, Russian?
Are you a barber?
I said: I am not going to tell you these things without the presence of my attorney, ******* **********.
She: Who? Toll?
I believe they were making fun of long Eastern European last names.
I did tell them my name, social security, my phone number, parents phone number, and I gave them my ID’s, and other things from my pocket($7.00).
They locked my in a jail cell where I sat for about few hours. A public defender attorney came and told me that he needs info about me. At first I refused to tell him about my education and my employment status. He told me that I may stay in jail for a weekend if I will not cooperate. Therefore, I told him about my education, my employment status, my job title, my homeownership, for how long I lived in my present address, my marital status, whether I have children, and my criminal records, but I refused to tell him about what happened with the police. After he left for about half an hour, and I remained locked in room with no toilet. I wanted to urinate, but no officer was present. Only after about 45 minutes, I was put back in the cell with the toilet. On the uncomfortable, wooden bench, I saw Jewish six corner star and a word “HATE”, not too far from it. I believe it is an act of Anti-Semitism. Surrounded by the police with hands behind my back, I stood in front of the Judge. The charge was battery. They put me in jail cell for 15 minutes, brought paper and told me to sign it. Finally, Officer gave me another paper and told me to sign again. I asked that I wanted to read, before I sign a paper. He throw out carelessly on the table my ID’s, laces, and belt. He said: “This is your shit and get out of here.” I followed another officer and I went outside of the Court Building.
