Police and Security I have some trouble with the cops, you have some trouble with the cops. We all have some issues with the police units, security guards, and other gate keepers. Let me tell you one true story which is a news breaker, but it is not in the news. One day I go to Foxing Meadows Circuit Court for free legal advice about starting new business. I go upstairs drinking juice and looking for lawyer at the end of hallway. I see no lawyers, but I see one white man with red face and in a police uniform. “No drinks is allowed, put your drink in the trash can!” he yells out loud. I am a little bit confused why drinking in a hallway is a crime these days and I ask cop politely: “I see a white woman drinking water, and she can drink, but I can’t. Is this the new law?” “There is a big sign near the entrance that No drinks allowed unless you are a state attorney who works in this building.” I put soda can in the trash can, and I decide to go down, to find out this new sign, and why there are no free lawyers today. Cop follows me and murmurs “People say sorry for drinking. You have some problems. You go down because you have no business in this building, blah, blah, blah.” On the first floor, I see no sign regarding No Drinking and ask cop politely: “Sir, What is your name?” “Sergent Shannon”, he answers. I am writing his name when all of the sudden I see other cops are approaching. “You, leave the building. You are under arrest.” They push me to wall, tie my hands. I am in handcuffs. I am not only confused, I am deeply upset. My back hurts. What a hell is going on? I am not going to talk to these people. They escort me downstairs, take my coat, belts, IDs, money, anything from the pockets. Picture me, take my fingerprints, start asking stupid questions. “Are you Russian or Polish?” “Are you Jewish or Arab?” “Are you employed or on drugs?” “What is your occupation?” “What did you do in this building?” “What is your race?” You are S…, F…, and so on and so forth. Every other word is profanity, bigotry, racism. “I am not going to talk without my lawyer” is my answer to all these questions. They are starting to ask the same questions like they have hearing problem. “I am not going to talk without my lawyer” I answered again. After a while, they stopped asking the questions, did not give the opportunity to speak with my lawyer, but put me in jail without an explanation. Only 5 hours later, I met with the judge, he gives me battery charges, let me out on 10,000 dollars bond, and ask to come back for the trial. This story will be continued, but I have few questions to judge and to our leaders. “Do I live in democracy or in brutality?” “Is it 21 century or ancient time when people are put in jail and murdered for no reason?” “Did Aby Ghareb and Guantanomo Bay prison teach military a lesson?” “When the United States will be free from racism, anti-Semitism, KKK, and other fascism?” I go to lawyer and he says it will be my words against policemen. It is up to the judge to decide who is right, who is guilty. Statistics shows how much judge trust to the cop, how much judge trust ordinary people. Judge trust cops by default. I demand tape, let the judge see what did happen. The court house should be monitored with cameras, I believe, it is 21 century and it is after 9-11. This story is not finished because trial is not over…. |
