Today is a week day, the usual day, it is a work day for me, and for most of us. We work 5 days a week, sometimes every day is a working day. The boss was too bossy today, and she gets on my nerves from time to time. Here is the story in short, and general thoughts: Recently she yells at me for some strange reasons. What is her problem? It can be few reasons. She is fat, ugly middle aged, single women with no children who smokes cheap cigarettes. That is one reason why she is often upset and depressed. She is yelling because she can get away with yelling at workers, because she is boss. We work in warehouse and bosses yell more here than in office. It is probably better than jail or military, but warehouse is a dangerous job. People are often injured and it is not their fault: back injury, arm injury, leg injury, all kinds of problems. There is just too much heavy work, and the pace is a rush. It is the exception when I see management walking like normal people. They are trained to run, yell, look busy, and talk junk. No wonder, only one out of ten new hires survives on a job. Workers are usually quit, die, or get injured. In short, they can’t keep up with the heavy, dirty job, and high speed. Anyway, let’s go specific, why she is yelling at me? “You can’t sit. Stand up and keep working.” I wanted to say, “Your words make no sense.” I have already worked for few hours without a break. I am sitting because I listen what the other worker is telling me, how could I help him. One minute of sitting will make no difference in the corporate pockets anyway.” Yet, I decided to keep my knowledge to myself and stand up. Thanks God, she is walking away. You can go to washroom from time to time, you can buy water, but never to sit or look like there is no work. The dress is more important than quality work. For me, this policy is contra productive, it is show, not work. Yet, show attitude is spreading from management to the workers. It is a disaster, contagious disease which kills companies. Oh well, I am paid by the hour, I really should not care much about the company vision. Maybe I should quit this job and work for myself. |
