Part IV Car Repair After paying $300 for new radiator and leaving my car for 2 days in repair shop, I still have the problem. It leaks anti-freeze. I go to mechanic, and he is not in rush to find out what’s going on. Only few hours later, he says, water pump is no good. I need to replace it, $360.00 for job, parts, and labor. Damn, I already paid 300 for new radiator. Now what? Water pump. Why did not tell me about this pump in a first place? Maybe I would abandon this old car and saved 700 dollars for my future car. What will happen in future? Freeze lines are broken, transmission, emission, whatever. Right now, the Christmas is over, I am out of cash and out of luck, but I need to drive smoothly. Public transportation is a joke in suburbs of Chicago. If you have real job, you need real car, not a bus or a train. Theoretically, you may use couple of buses to get to your place, but I don’t recommend. 20 minutes of driving a car is 3 hours of walking waiting for bus, and bussing around. So, I will go to different auto shop for a better service and prices. First, I go to Wal-Mart for $17.00 oil change and 5 cans of antifreeze liquid. It took me few minutes to buy antifreeze, but almost three hours for oil change. Bad time of day for oil change at Walmart. After waiting in line for few hours, they told that the car is leaking and they can’t do their job. I insist and insist, and they did change the oil. The good thing about Walmart car repair is massage chair. It pulse and massage your buttocks, thighs, back while you are waiting for service. The bad thing is bad service, long hours of waiting from time to time. Are there good auto repair shop in Midwest? Or are they all rip offs? What about Midas, Meineke, Merlin’s? I have no money to buy new car, and no money to fix the old one. One choice is to go to jail and another is to borrow money. I think I have bad choices like a Coca Cola or Pepsi. They are all bad for the health. It may be good in short term, but they kill in the long term. Jail now is no worry for bills, but I will have no future after prison. Borrow money will help me to pay for my bills, but it leads to the bankruptcy. I borrow few thousand dollars in credit, and go to physical therapist to relax for few minutes. What a stress, what a stress! Maybe I should plan trip to the Mexico beaches. American life is so much stress, I need to relax or retire.
