| New Power in Georgia A little bit about Mikhail Saakashvilli: The "new elected" president is 36 year old US educated guy who is a former protégée of Eduard Shevarnadze. He was sworn in as president of Georgia Sunday. He is 36 years old US trained lawyer who has a beautiful Holland wife and likes to drink Russian vodka. Few things are worth noticing as well. For about 10 years US backed Shevarnadze and claimed that Georgia is the most democratic country in the region. All of the sudden Shevarnadze is a corrupt guy and Georgians are ripped off by the corrupt regime. For all these years US "sponsored Georgians economic development". Now, economy of Georgia is in ruins and only support from the US can help Georgians to rebuild their economy. During all those years ethnic autonomies are disintegrated, such as Ocetiya and Abhaziya. After so called bloodless revolution, another autonomous region is trying to get away from Tbilisi. It is Adjariya. US admit that they are happy with the regime change in Georgia and securing pipe lines. The conclusion is that the more US is involved, the more screwed up is the region. The destabilization of Georgia reminds destabilization of Yogoslavia, and Shevarnadze with Miloshovich. He too was a close friend with US and tried to distance the state from Russia. According to the opposition parties, Mikhail Saakashvilli bloodless revolution is nothing more, only a joke. Shevarnadze decided to retire and picked up his younger friend. Saakashvilli inauguration on the 76th birthday of Shevarnadze is a gift to the old men. Collin Powell and Igor Ivanov were invited to the celebration. Although three parties tried to downplay that they represent 3 opposite interests, it is clear that Russian and Americans handle war on terrorism very differently. It does not look that Russians will sell off oil interests in Georgia to Americans. Can Russians compete with US military and economically? Will former Soviet republics and Eastern Europe unite with Moscow in order to avoid Georgia and Yogoslavia disaster? Who is benefiting from the modern out of balance world?
